Quick Discovery from the Model

When you are viewing your Model's General details in the Admin Console or Content Manager, you can click the Quick Discovery button at the top-right of the page to create a new, empty, discovery in the selected Model. This allows you to get modeling right away, without having to open Discover, select a server, database, and model, and so on.

Creating a new discovery

Admin Console

From the Source Manager page of the Admin Console:

  1. In the Server Tree, select the Model (yellow arrow below) that you want to add your discovery to:
  2. Click Quick Discovery (blue arrow above).

Content Manager

From the Data Model Manager in the Content Manager:

  1. Again, select the Model in the Server Tree.
  2. Click Quick Discovery.

New discovery

A new, empty, discovery is created in the selected Model and is opened in the Discover app. Note the Model location in your discovery's status bar (green highlight below):

Note: Your new discovery is just the same as any discovery created in Discover. Quick Discovery is just a shortcut to allow you to create it quickly. To learn about alternative discovery creation details, see Access Discover Pro.
